Jr. Heritage
Education, Preservation, & Volunteerism
The Jr. Heritage Foundation, designed for young preservationists from 6th grade to 12th grade, is a Heritage Foundation membership-based program within the Heritage Classroom initiative. The program will be a feeder program into Next Gen, the Heritage Foundation’s membership base for young professionals.
Initially, the Jr. Heritage Foundation program was implemented as a pilot program at Battle Ground Academy Middle and Upper Schools, and after a very successful initial launch, we are opening membership to all Williamson County middle and high school students.
Inspired by programming he attended while vacationing in Historic Williamsburg several years ago, John Denton, an 8th grade student at BGA, approached Heritage Foundation CEO Bari Beasley in late 2018 to discuss the prospects of starting the Jr. Heritage Foundation. Together, they have worked with the Foundation’s staff, BGA faculty and a small group of students from BGA to get the pilot program formed and off the ground.

Education
As member of the group, students will have the opportunity to take part in members-only, educational field trips to places of historical significance within the county, as well as behind-the-scenes tours.
Preservation
With its primary focus of preservation, the Heritage Foundation is excited to start cultivating even younger preservationists in our community through the Jr. Heritage program.
Volunteerism
We know that community service and volunteer opportunities are an important aspect of many middle and upper school programs. The members of Jr. Heritage Foundation will receive exclusive volunteer opportunities to help meet these requirements for their schools.
