A delegation of 80 Williamson Inc. chamber members prepare to depart for our nation’s capital this week for the third annual Williamson Forward community learning excursion.
This year, the group will spend three days learning about regional transit, preservation, development, schools and sustainability.
They will visit the Smithsonian Institution, receive a tour of historic Alexandria, Virginia, and learn about economic development in Fairfax County.
From school representatives to transportation and historic preservationists, chamber members answered two questions posed by the Home Page:
- What topic are you most excited to learn about, or which portion of the trip?
- What are you hoping to glean from the experience to apply to your role as a community leader here?
Bari Beasley, Heritage Foundation Executive Director

- I am most excited about visiting Alexandria, Virginia and learning about its historic preservation efforts. I also look forward to serving on a panel with my counterparts from Alexandria to discuss historic preservation as well as efforts to maintain the character and charm of our respective cities.
- This will be my second opportunity to participate in a Williamson Forward trip. Like last time, I anticipate returning home with new friends as well as fresh ideas to apply to my own work on behalf of the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County, Tennessee.
