Dickens Weather Updates
IMPORTANT WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT
40th Annual Dickens of a Christmas Update
The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel Sunday’s programming (December 14) for the 40th Annual Dickens of a Christmas. The festival will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, December 13, from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
This is the official information hub. If any further changes occur regarding Saturday's schedule, updates will be posted here and shared on our official social media channels.
Why Sunday is Canceled
This decision was made proactively by senior leadership based on updated forecasts predicting extreme cold and operational risks on Sunday. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all guests, vendors, volunteers, and staff.
Forecasts indicate:
- Sustained temperatures in the low teens
- Wind chills near 0°F
- High risk of critical operational failures, including freezing water access, unreliable heating/cooking equipment, and sanitation system failure.
- Prolonged outdoor exposure would create frostbite risk thresholds for those working and attending.
These risks cannot be safely mitigated. Canceling Sunday is the most responsible decision to avoid public health and safety concerns.
Saturday Festival Plan (December 13)
We are moving forward with a full day of Dickens magic on Saturday! To ensure a safer, more comfortable experience, we are implementing cold-weather mitigations:
- Warming Stations: A heated warming tent with sidewalls will be available, and we are coordinating with local churches for additional indoor warming access.
- Hours: Saturday hours remain 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
We strongly encourage all guests to dress warmly, wear layers, and monitor weather conditions before arriving on Saturday.
Thank you for your understanding as we celebrate this milestone 40th Anniversary safely!
