Learning Never Goes Out of Style
The Heritage Foundation’s education team leads the way in providing dynamic programming and curriculum resources for students and teachers in Williamson County and beyond. Historical study sparks curiosity and creativity and fosters an empowered citizenry to engage in the preservation of communities and strengthens our democracy. Our staff of passionate educational professionals draw upon our collections, historic resources and the built environment to develop materials and engage learners of all ages in the study of our collective past.
The Heritage Foundation has been a leader in providing education opportunities and materials for the betterment of historic preservation, advocacy training and community outreach partnerships. Through the years, we have hosted symposiums, workshops and tours with our local, regional, and national partners.
Through our education programs, our mission serves to enhance public awareness, raise understanding of historic buildings, sites, and resources and inform teachers and students about our collective past.
The Heritage Foundation Educates Youth and Adults of our Community in Three Ways:
SCHOOL PROGRAMS
The Heritage Classroom was started more than 30 years ago. The program is a free educational program, produced by the Heritage Foundation, designed to help students learn more about historic preservation and local history. Our goal is to reach at least 1,500 public, private and home-schooled students each year. We do this through in-classroom programs, virtual programs and field trips.
Youth & Family Programs
The Heritage Foundation fully recognizes our younger generation has a place in our historic preservation story. We believe there is significant value in investing in our young people, engaging them in a variety of ways to have them look at buildings, landscapes, and stories as a collective, especially in their own backyard.
Community Programs
We firmly believe learning is important at every age. The Heritage Foundation offers adult and community programs for people of all ages, including our new Warwick Lecture Series, our annual Preservation Symposium, historic tours and more. We can also take our programs on the road. If our community group is interested in hosting us, please let us know!
