Snow days have come and gone… but are you ready for another round? It looks like more flurries may be heading our way and we wanted to share a list of some things to do with your kiddos to make the most out of some unexpected time together.
1) Want to stay indoors?
- Build a fort – grab blankets, pillows, and snuggle up
- Play games with the entire family
- Dedicate an hour or two to reading books
- Dig through drawers and closets and make a craft
- Watch a special movie… anything you can to pass time and stay warm
2) Brave enough to venture out?
Sometime our big snow falls are a little… err… underwhelming. If the roads aren’t that bad by you – be a tourist in your own town! Check out some of the great historic sites and spaces we have nearby.
- Explore Leiper’s Fork
- Shop Downtown Franklin (or see a movie at the Franklin Theatre)
- Discover Nolensville
- Visit Carnton or stop by the Lotz House
Just be sure to call ahead to make sure the places you want to see are open.
3) Find a hill.
- Put on ALL your layers.
- Grab a sled from your local hardware shop
- Find a killer slope to slide down. Enjoy!
Take some hot chocolate in an insulated mug to stay warm and have fun on these rare southern snow days.
4) Call a sitter.
If you’ve been locked up a need a break… remember… high school students have the day off, too! Reach out to:
- Friends and family
- Church groups
- HOA/Community Facebook pages
Find a responsible teen or adult nearby who can help you out so you can get to WORK!
Need more ideas? Pinterest is always a great resource… though in my experience I have to set some realistic expectations! Happy Snow Day, Williamson County!
