Practical Preservation Series: Historic Home Repair and Community Resources

David Willhite of Middle Tennessee Electric will speak on MTE’s Home Uplift Program and Jenee Galland, COO of Habitat for Humanity will speak about the work of Habitat and their grant program for private property owners.

 

About David:

David is a native of Rutherford County and a Graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in wildlife biology. David has been with MTE for six years. While at MTE, he began in the Land data department doing GIS drafting and is now in his current role as Energy Services Coordinator. David enjoys interacting with members daily and helping members understand energy efficiency.

 

 

About Jenee:

Jennee Galland, Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury’s President & COO, is a native of Middle Tennessee. She graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in communications and a minor in environmental sciences. She began her career teaching in the Chicago Public School System with the Chicago Academy of Sciences. After moving to Austin, TX to escape the snow, she led educational programming at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and then later, the communication department of the Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District. In 2009, she moved back to Tennessee to be closer to family and has served at Habitat Williamson-Maury for the past 10 years. When not working on affordable housing locally, she leads groups overseas to build houses with other Habitat affiliates in countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, Guatemala, and Kenya. Jennee and her husband, Bryan, met in high school and enjoy hiking, traveling, and gardening. They have a 15-year-old who loves attending Centennial High School and hopes to be president of the Habitat High Club next year.
